Ideal Water Depth for Aquatic Exercises

Water depth plays a critical role in aquatic exercise safety and effectiveness:

Shallow-Water Programmes:

Typically performed in water ranging from mid-rib cage to mid-chest depth. Ideal depth is 1.0-1.4 metres (3.5-4.5 feet)

Deep-Water Programmes:

Most successful at depths of 2.0 metres (6.5 feet) or more, allowing participants to move without impact.

Transitional Depth Training:

Conducted in water between1.2-1.8 metres (4-6 feet), often using flotation equipment.

Proper water depth ensures reduced impact, proper alignment, and control of movement.
